Time Off

Taking a little medical leave... OK, I'm not going to even try to say I'm brave because right now, I'm a nervous wreck.  I've elected to have a Cardiac Ablation (CA) surgical procedure.  It will be done tomorrow, if I don't change my mind.  Today, I have an Esophageal Echo to check for any clots around my heart and that is almost a cake walk. I thought I'd put my mind at ease last night when I couldn't sleep.  I thought the best thing to do would be a Google search on (CA) recovery and pain.  BIG MISTAKE!  Just as everyone looks different, everyone has different experiences.   However, there was a preponderance...OK, somewhat larger margin...OK, a little over 50% of patients that reported  an easy recovery and mild pain.  So I had to tell myself that if I'm in pain, I'll be pressing the nurse's button. So, I'm not emotionally able to paint, and post procedure,  probably won't be painting again until later next week.   I'

Third Place for Pattycake

Pattycake has a new home and she won Third Place in this month's Nibblefest Art Contest.

Buddy Boy

"Buddy-Boy" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard  $ 45.   Buy on Etsy I think mice are cute and I had a crush on them and bunnies as a kid.  I was fixated on drawing them when I should have been listening to the teacher.  Gosh, that was before my parents got color TV!  Well, we had indoor plumbing and ashtrays.  Anyway,  Buddy-Boy was painted to be on the short list of awe-cute mice and I kindled an old flame.

Samantha the Hamster

Samantha the Hamster, 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard click to bid I wanted to paint a small animal today.  My first attempt was a mouse.  Well, that was a scraper and while I was scraping, I was nagging myself for letting more than two days go by without painting. I really had to fight the urge to call it a day and give up. I decided that perhaps the photo reference for the mouse was not clear enough and decided to work with a hamster photo which was clearer.   Samantha and I are happy I did not quit.

Pattycake the Sea Otter

Pattycake the Sea Otter, 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board Nibblefest Art Contest- Starts Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 Sold - Thank you! "Rusty"

"Honeoye Falls Loner" - Collection of the Artist "Rusty" 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Gessoboard - Sold Rusty is a commission.  I painted his twin back in March of 2013 and named that painting "Honeoye Falls Loner".  I've used Loner for promotional materials and he's not for sale... or to be politically correct, Loner would be labeled: Collection of the Artist".  I think one of the highest complements an artist can receive is when another accomplished artist wants to commission you to create a painting for them and that's how we got "Rusty" On another note, I've discovered "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" on You Tube. I just finished watching one of the more scarier episodes.  I'm a little wired right now, but I think I'll be able to sleep soon.  I'ts about 11:45 pm.  Nite-Nite!

One Foot Over Chickadee

"One Foot Over Chickadee" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Panel $ 45. Sold- Thank you Hey, listen up everyone...Spring has arrived!  How can you be so sure, you ask?  Because my allergies are acting up and that's because the trees are budding.  When the trees loose their leaves, same thing.  Oh and in-between... there's the ragweed that induces hay fever.   Now, let there be no doubt, I still love Spring and so does this little birdie.

Lady in Pink

"Lady In Pink" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Gessoboard My husband put up a squirrel baffle that works on the pole that holds my two feeders.  As much as I think squirrels are cute, they are little piggies when it comes to the bird feeders and they had to be stopped.  Now the birds can eat in peace.  This little lady is waiting for her turn.

Toes Crossed

"Toes Crossed" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board Sold This beautiful Hummingbird has his toes crossed for me...that's because I'm hoping for more days like yesterday and today.  Got the peas planted yesterday and God watered them in last night, while I slept.

Hummingbird in Amethyst

Hummingbird in Amethyst, 4 x 4 inches Oil on Board  Sold - Thank you It's been too long since I've been in the studio again.  But decided to paint a hummingbird to celebrate warmer weather.  Everyone loves purple and hummingbirds.  Tomorrow's temps are going to be in the 60's.  Might have to plant my peas.

Chickadee's Pose

"Chickadee's Pose", 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board  Sold- Thank you Painted with brush and Palette Knife.  Even though this is a charming bird, it's also a study of French Ultramarine Blue.

The Grazing Pair

The Grazing Pair, 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board $ 50. Buy on Etsy Spring is almost here.  I feel a difference in the air and although where I live, there is still snow on the ground, Spring is almost here!

Snacks and Spots

"Snacks and Spots" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board Another of my favorite subjects to paint.  The photo reference was completely a side view and for a challenge, I moved her head a bit to the side.  I've observed these ladies enough to give it a try.
