Mouse Mugger No. 5

"Mouse Mugger No. 5", 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board - Sold I just had to paint a mouse today.  No, I don't have mice in my house and certainly don't own one that's trained to pose.  But we all have the internet with thousands of pictures.  I use internet pictures as a starting point and see what I can do to make it a Brande Arno.

Otter Mug Shot lll

"River Otter Mug Shot, III" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board- Sold I just love painting these little guys.  A wonderful zoo is about 40 miles away and they have a River Otter section.  I should pack a lunch and my camera in the near future and make a day trip.  I will also pack my sketching supplies to draw... oh I don't know, the polar bears...maybe the elephants.

Lioness Challenge

"Lioness Challenge" 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board Click to Bid Lions have strong claws and muscles...but it's their eyes that are more than intimidating.  They are so confident and we all know it's the Lioness who does the hunting.  This lioness is painted from a photo posted on Daily Paintworks's challenge page.

Linear Love

"Linear Love" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board -Sold This is my entry for the Nibblefest art contest (NFAC) with the June theme being all in a row.   I was stumped on this one, although there are great examples  HERE After giving this some thought, two little piggies were on my heart to paint.  I added some sky holes is the back...kinda in a row to reinforce the theme.  All Nibblefest paintings start at just 99 cents on ebay!  I'll post the link for this one on the 20th of June.

Spying Rufous Hummingbird

"Spying Rufous Hummingbird" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board -Sold Well, maybe I pushed the greens found on the Rufous more on the teal side, but I've got a licence to do just that.  Painted with a palette knife, I thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece.

Ice Cream Bunny Vll

Ice Cream Bunny Vll, 6 x 6 inches,Oil on Board $ 50.00  Buy on etsy I see little brown bunnies out at about 7 PM, usually when we come back from treating ourselves to hand dipped ice cream.  They're out every night, even if I'm not...but I just love to see them.  They're so cute.  I made this painting on the cute side, but I venture that if I could get real close to them, I'd think they're even cuter!

The Floater, Finished

The Floater, Finished 12 x 16 inches, collection of the artist Well, this little River Otter is finished!  In addition to finishing the eyes, I adjusted the colors of the water and tried to bring out some of the water's reflections on the fur.  And oh yeah, I put the fizz in the bubbles.

The Floater

The Floater, 12 x 16 inches, Oil on Gessoboard This piece is not finished yet, but close.  Sometimes a painting at this stage can get the artist in trouble as they try to bring it to completion.  So today I stopped at a good point so that I'll have fresh eyes tomorrow.  I'll need some luck also. This is what the painting looked like 4 days ago.  Although I liked the pose, I did make some changes with the otter's back legs with today's painting session.  I also worked more detail in the front paws.

Otter Mug Shot ll

Otter Mug Shot ll, 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Gesso Board $ 95.   Purchase on Paypal I'm so glad to have a full painting day today and I wanted to start by creating another Otter Mug Shot piece. I'm more drawn to paintings with brushwork and I find descriptive brushwork is very difficult and sometimes impossible to capture.  But I keep trying.

Yolkfish

"YolkFish" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard OK folks, it's another "now I've seen everything moment"  Someone came up with a way to pluck a yolk from a freshly cracked egg.  How did I discover this invention?  Trying to find a fish to paint for this week's  Dailypaintworks challenge, posted by Carol Marine.  Scrolling through Google, I came across this fishy invention and Dah!   Carol is very skilled at incorporating broken raw eggs as subjects in her paintings and she does it in a manner that rates high on the wow factor scale. Actually,  EVERYTHING Carol paints rates high on the wow factor scale.  So the Yolkfish invention is just too perfect for this week's fish challenge. But I don't own a Yolkfish.  Well, I do have an artist licence and this is the outcome.  I do see in the near future, a package from amazon containing a Yolkfish will be at my doorstep.
