Is That A Hummer Overhead? - 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Gessoboard Sold - Thank you This painting is inspired by another flowerbed at Wool Works.  The Hummingbird is my idea.  I love Hummingbirds and I think many of you do also.  Knowing that these little creatures love flowers, I just had to add one to this painting.

July 7, 2013 - Plein Air - Oil on Board. 6 x 6 inches Click here to bid A simple scene that was harder to paint than I gave it credit for.  I wanted to paint outdoors yesterday and I usually don't paint on the weekends, but yesterday was an unusual day.  I've been in the studio painting quite a bit, but now that the monsoon type rains have ebbed, I'm going to get busy with plein air.

Billsboro Lavender 6x6 inches, Oil on Board, Plein Air   This is the last painting I created for the 5th Annual Billsboro Winery Plein Air Competition.  This is a lot of work for the owners of the winery and I so appreciate their dedication to the arts. Muse Challenge 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board This is my entry into the Daily Paint works Weekly Challenge.  The sponsor of the challenge posted a really nice photo with mountains and evergreens.  I decided to simplify and soften the inspiration photo.  I woke up yesterday at 3:30 am with a roaring migraine, so I was down for the count with the exception of putting finishing touches on a puppy portrait.   I do have medication, but it knocks me out.  Today, the pain is manageable and I took up the brushes to produce this piece.  With my cluster migraines I'll probably have pain even tomorrow, but over the counter medicine will work. Big Bottomed Bees 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board As I was painting this, the bees put on weight around their rumps. I decided to go with it.. About Face 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board, $ 60. Like most of working Americans I'm glad it's Friday.  Tonight is my night off from cooking and even though I use to have Neill take me to a restaurant, we have been ordering takeout.  We are blessed to have a great Italian pizzeria that will deliver more than a few miles from their shop.  Love their food! This painting is another in my sheep series.  I don't feel the need to stop painting sheep yet, so on Monday, they'll probably be another posted.  Stay tuned.  Titled About Face because of the unusual pose.  Weekend blessings go out to you from me!

Sheep # 5, in shade 4 x 4 inches, oil on board $ 40. I'm so happy to have been able to paint today as I think I have the bug that is going around,  This is a small piece and so far, I want to continue to paint sheep.  Don't know how many paintings will make up this series yet. I started my day with a darn good drawing of Cooper in one of his stretched out poses.  Warmer weather brings out that kind of pose.  I hope to post it tomorrow.  Speaking of warmer weather, both Cooper and Cookie need a haircuts & bath...they stink!

Cotton Balls, Sheep # 4 Oil on Board, 6 x 6 inches, $ 60.  I'm fortunate to live in a part of NY where there are several farms that feature sheep.  A few rural homes in my close neighborhood, are now taking on raising one or two sheep. Took several pictures earlier today of some little animals who were attending the same one day festival as I was.  I shortly afterwards, got to drawing portraits of children.  It was a good day.

Number 3, Sheep Series 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board I've decided to create a sheep series to better hone my skills with a subject that I love.  I could sit on a blanket with a picnic lunch to just watch these little love bugs for hours.  I can't do that, so the next best thing is to either paint en plein aire from the back of my car or take some pictures and paint them in my studio. Over the years, I've done both.  I onced got kissed by a sheep.  I'll never forget it.  

"New Field"  Oil on Board, 5 x 5 inches $ 65.     This is a second attempt at painting a sheep that I photographed about a month ago.  I tried a different approach and I'm more mindful of making a plan and sticking to it.  I'm to quick to keep working an area that should be left alone. I have to say, I'm pleased, but can't wait to get back to the easel tomorrow to reinforce what I learned today.

Green Diet, 6 x 6 inches, $ 80. Ok, I'm pretty much all better and nicely over the trauma of having one of my teeth extracted.  The oral surgeon was very skilled, but that didn't stop me from being scared.  I got as much happy gas as he could safely administer.  Two pulls and the bugger was out.  Now they don't let you out of the chair without getting a bone implant and this had to be sewed inside the gap.  I won't go on, but I have to say the IDEA bothers me more than the reality of the procedure. I started this painting before my husband, Neill & I left for the oral surgeon's office.  I finished it yesterday.  I think it is so peaceful. 

Buster 6 x 6 inches $ 80. I'm in the process of changing computers from a desk-top to a lap-top.  I'm having problems...Of Course!  Mainly with getting the wifi to work on the printer.  My hubby is going to help me archive and transfer files. This painting of Buster really reflects how I feel right now.  Jaw clenched and eyes about to roll from sheer frustration of not knowing how to get computers to work properly.  I need a teenager in the house!   

Yellow Greens Oil on Board, 5 x 7 inches, $80.00 I snipped several cuttings from a very old variegated something that grows like crazy and also likes to climb around the house.  I have in mind to re-vamp my studio office, pot up the clippings after they sprout some roots and put them in my studio and studio office Right now, I'm ashamed of what both look like.  If I was to get ready for a visitor, I would have to gather all manner of papers, portable files and what ever has found a resting place in it's confines and put it all in about ten laundry baskets...probably more. Really the major problem is I don't have a enough space and too much stuff just hanging off the hips.  It's kind of like loosing weight.  You have to take in less calories, take in less "STUFF".  I've filled up all my closets, Neill has totally taken over the garage and cellar space.  The attic is accessed by a clumsy ladder.  So I'm kinda like painted into a cor...

Stormy Skies Ahead 8 x 8 inches, Oil on Board, $150. I have very good childhood memories on a dairy farm.  An extended family member married a dairy farmer and I was invited to spend a few weeks over summer vacation on the farm.  I loved it!  It did take about an hour for my nose to get use to the pungent smell of the barn. I didn't know it then, but I was working for my keep.  I helped with milking, bailing hay and barn chores.  I didn't think of it as work, I had a blast.  I knew we were taking care of the cows that had the most beautiful eyes. My cousin Sue, sure could cook.  Everything was made from scratch; pies, cakes with 7 minute frosting, biscuits, cookies and bread.  Notice, I'm listing the sweets that she made.  I helped her in the kitchen and loved every minute of that also.  Sue and George, don't know the impact they had on my life letting me visit for the 5 summers that I did.  They were childless duri...

Dandy Lions  Dandy Lions, 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board, $ 50.00  On a brief morning walk with Cooper & Cookie I noticed a eruption of Dandelions on quite a bit of property all around and to include mine.  I decided that taking a few photos would suffice and then created this painting. I love green glass.  I love brand new paint brushes.  This piece of glass is quite old, but it's not green hence the green cloth it rests on.  My brushes need to be replaced, so I lined up two of the worse for this painting. I spent too much time yesterday looking for replacement brushes on-line.  I can't find the exact same series.  Like any artist, I don't want to change what I work with, so not being able to find these brushes causes anxiety.  Well at least I don't have a migraine!
