Right Look Chickadee

"Right Look Chickadee" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard Sold, Thank you What can I say...I love these wonderful little birds.  We have a park close by where in the winter, the Chickadees will eat seeds from your hand.  The leaves are starting to turn and I tried to incorporate a little Autumn in this piece. On another note,  I'll be spending  October 2 - 5 painting plein air in Geneva, New York which is part of the Finger Lake's Wine Trail.   I'm a charter artist of this event and really look forward to painting outdoors with nature all around me. I'll try to post my plein air paintings daily.

Dee in Charge

"Dee in Charge" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard Sold - Thank you! I've been on the wrong side of bad luck with health lately.  My mom has been ill and then I had another episode of A-Fib which keeps me in bed.  But there is a good side to being in bed / sick and that is:  When you recover you have a heightened sense of enjoying life and I mean really heightened! This morning, I noticed chickadees at the bird feeder and decided to add fresh seed for them.  When I walked to the station, a young chickadee was perched very close and the bird stayed as I slowly walked closer.   I was struck by how beautiful this bird looked and I'm sure it's that heightened sense of enjoying life that made my eyes focus so well.

Turn Around Chickadee

"Turn Around Chickadee" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Gessoboard Etsy Shop Currently, birds, seem to be my favorite subject .  Specifically the Chickadee.  Maybe soon, I'll take a little more artist liberty and abstract them or make them bolder in color and form.  For now, I need to paint more studies of them.

Retro Daisies No. 1

"Retro Daisies" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gesso board Buy on Etsy Sometimes you just need to paint daisies. I was a teenager in the later part of the 1960s.  It was a fun time to be young.  Not like the times we live in now.  My generation was the grovin', flower child, all you need is love generation.  We had the 5th Dimension singing "Aquarius", The Association singing "Cherish".  We had short skirts and long hair and I was sent to the Principal's office for laughing loudly in the bathroom.    I painted these and two other Retro Daisy paintings because I often miss the 60's.  Yesterday, I really missed the 60's and I'm sorry, so sorry that Airplanes can be shot down from the heavens.

Mouse Mugger No. 6

"Mouse Mugger No. 6"  Oil on Board 4 x 4 inches, $ 45.   Buy on etsy Looks like I'll be painting more than one mouse this week.  I don't know who's more surprised, Mugger no. 6 or me!

Buddy Boy

"Buddy-Boy" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard  $ 45.   Buy on Etsy I think mice are cute and I had a crush on them and bunnies as a kid.  I was fixated on drawing them when I should have been listening to the teacher.  Gosh, that was before my parents got color TV!  Well, we had indoor plumbing and ashtrays.  Anyway,  Buddy-Boy was painted to be on the short list of awe-cute mice and I kindled an old flame.
