"Cocco" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard I have some news for those who subscribe and my collectors.  I'm moving back to Blogger.  It's been a long time and I tried another blogging venue.  It didn't work for me.  This artist has spent countless hours trying to get tech savvy.  I want to paint.  So stay tuned.  First post for 2017 coming shortly.

"Rocky" Commission Portrait I really enjoyed painting Rocky's portrait.  I've never met this charmer, but I'd bet he's a very loving dog.  I worked on this portrait in three stages.  You can look at my Facebook process pictures HERE . I love painting portraits of doggies and kitties and I'm always looking for an excuse to do so.  

"Sophie" 9 x 12 Commissioned Oil Painting Sold I have not had the pleasure of meeting this dog yet, but from the reference pictures I want to.  She just looks so sweet and she has the kindest, prettiest eyes.  Her pet mom commissioned this painting as a Christmas gift for Sophie's pet daddy. I love painting commissions!  I wish I could every day.  

Wishing I was Fishing, 6 x 6 inch Oil on Board Sold, thank you! This week's challenge for Daily Paintworks was to paint water.  I had a photo of my dog, Cookie looking out our window alerted.to a squirrel.  I've been wanting to make a painting from that photo for several months now.  I took out my artist licence because I imagined the water and the rocks using memories of various lakes I have visited over my years.

10 x 10 inches, Oil on Board - Sold This is my niece's American Strathshire Terrier named Preston Leonidas.  What a cool name.  Although Preston and I haven't met yet, I can tell from the photo references that he's a great dog.  I'm a big dog fan. I really enjoyed painting Preston and like any portrait it's all about the eyes.  I think I captured the look most doggies are known for...alert and ready to listen to the owner.

Cooper's Eyes 16 x 20 inches Oil on Board- NFS I received a comment from another blogger about the In-process painting of Cooper that I posted several days ago.  I just realized I did not post the finished piece, so here it is.  In process of this painting can be found on my facebook page www.facebook.com/brandearno  

Cooper 16 x 20 inches, Oil on Board No, this painting is not finished... but darn close.  This is the stage where I can loose the freshness and so I'm almost afraid to proceed.  Because of this fear, yesterday I started a painting of my other doggie, Cookie: Cookie, 12 x 16 inches, Oil on Board This is the initial lay-in and I just love what I captured here.  So I thought I was on a roll until I stopped my painting day and ended up with this: I ended up with some of this piece being overworked.  I do plan on finishing both of my puppy-dog paintings today.  I'm going to conquer my fear of finishing these pieces by showing that inner voice of fear the door out of my studio.

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board This pug got herself entangled in her pink blankie, but don't think for a minute she isn't ready to show the cat who's the boss.  Enjoy the weekend. I know I will.

Mae, 10 x 10 inches, Oil on Board, Sold   This is a portrait of a well-loved canine who passed.   Painting portraits like this for persons who will always love their doggie is a major highlight in my artistic growth.
