"The Samplers" 9 x 12 inches, Oil on Panel SOLD - Thank you This is day two of the Billsboro Plein Air Festival and day two of me painting cows.  I found the most beautiful herd of beef cows with their calves.  While painting them, I observed several momma cows nursing their adorable babies. Being set up to paint outdoors today I was able to watch many calves nurse.  When  baby wants to nurse, momma cow stays put.  Baby nurses from one side and then walks around momma to nurse from the other side.  This allows me time to draw the pose.   I  did a pencil sketch of this pose and referred to it while creating this piece.  There was a creek that ran through the field and the mommas and babies would meander in and out of the water.  This painting features a momma sampling tall grass and her baby gobbling...maybe teething on the low growing greens.. . 

"Adirondacks lll", 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Panel Click here to bid My inspiration for this piece is the background...bet you thought I was going to go on about the rocks.  Well, I do like to paint rocks, but the Adirondack greens are what I wanted to capture in this piece.  The restfulness of the scene...so quiet....lake water.  I wanna go back to Tupper Lake!

Wishing I was Fishing, 6 x 6 inch Oil on Board Sold, thank you! This week's challenge for Daily Paintworks was to paint water.  I had a photo of my dog, Cookie looking out our window alerted.to a squirrel.  I've been wanting to make a painting from that photo for several months now.  I took out my artist licence because I imagined the water and the rocks using memories of various lakes I have visited over my years.

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board The challenge this week for Daily Paintworks is to paint glass.  Well after all I've been through this weekend with my killer migraine, I had to include headache medicine...just plain aspirin, but you'll notice three tablets are at the ready!   The glass is my husband's favorite.  It has a nice aquamarine colored rim and is on the thick side.  I bought it years ago...it's one of a kind like I am...just sayin'

Sea Gull's Close Up 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board This is my entry for this week's Daily Paintworks challenge.  A photo of a run-around Gull was snapped and posted as the muse.  I'm almost happy with this, I see things that went wrong, but if I want to have something to post, I need to let it lie as it is.  There is so much I want to be able to do with brush and pigment that I cannot do.  But I'm going to keep trying.   

Clouds vs. Tides, 6x 6 inches, $ 80. It's Memorial Day and I truly enjoy my freedom.  I'm blessed to be an American.  I'm more than blessed to live where I live.  I know that over the history of our nation and our battles both war and otherwise, many citizens have died for our flag, for our freedom. Clouds can be so beautiful and reside in the same sky all of earth enjoys.  The sound of tide waters soothes my soul.  I don't get to hear the tide nearly as much as I get to hear tractor lawnmowers.  In fact, Neill is riding on his right now. Tonight will be fireworks.  One or two families in earshot of where I live, travel over the NY boarder to PA and have access to some pretty good sized fireworks.   I'll have to put Cooper in his thundersuit tonight.  He is afraid of fireworks.  Cookie, on the other hand could care less.  

Glass, Water and Apple Oil on Board 5 x 7 inches. All this week, I've been working on a very large Black Bear painting, it's almost finished. Yesterday I decided I should take some time to brush up with a daily small painting and so the painting, Glass, Water and Apple was created. I'm happy with the outcome of yesterday's efforts, but it took too long to capture the glass.  I scraped it off three times to re-paint before getting it rendered to look like a glass of water.  I learned again the lesson that less is more.  It only takes one bad brush stroke to ruin a painting full of good ones.   Here is a close up shot with my cell phone.  I finally ordered my 16 megapixel camera and expect it to be delivered early March.
