"Adirondack V", 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Panel Another Adirondack inspiration painting.  I'm really loving the combination of lake waters, assorted rocks and the backdrop of evergreens. On another note, I'll be participating in the 6th annual Billsboro Winery Plein Air Festival.  This is a 4 day event that features artists who come from pretty far away.  In case you don't know, Billsboro Winery  is quite involved in supporting the arts and oh yeah...Vincent Aliperti makes great wine!  I always look forward to this event.   

"Adirondacks lll", 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Panel Click here to bid My inspiration for this piece is the background...bet you thought I was going to go on about the rocks.  Well, I do like to paint rocks, but the Adirondack greens are what I wanted to capture in this piece.  The restfulness of the scene...so quiet....lake water.  I wanna go back to Tupper Lake!

Wishing I was Fishing, 6 x 6 inch Oil on Board Sold, thank you! This week's challenge for Daily Paintworks was to paint water.  I had a photo of my dog, Cookie looking out our window alerted.to a squirrel.  I've been wanting to make a painting from that photo for several months now.  I took out my artist licence because I imagined the water and the rocks using memories of various lakes I have visited over my years.

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board Click to Bid This is a correction to a painting I did a couple of months ago.  I decided almost everything about that painting needed work.  So I broke out the palette knife and squeezed out fresh colors and went to work.  I'm very happy with this result as I feel the boulders and rocks are more convincing and interesting. Sometimes, you have to ruminate on a painting, let time and the benefit of learning from the school of daily painting help you come up with the answers.  I have a few older pieces that may see makeovers in the near future.  Below is the original attempt.

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board It's been a while since I've been able to post.  Decided today to use Google+ to sign into my blog site and it worked! This painting is based on an imaginary image after taking some medicine that did a little more than it was prescribed to do!  That's why it's called Rocky Mountain High. Well, I had to paint this in real life.  What I remember the most is, while it was in my imagination, I kept seeing the brushwork forming the rocks.  I love brushwork.  One of my goals is to have my brushwork describe or form everything I paint.  I don't know if this is a breakthrough piece, but I'm really, really happy I painted it and even more happier that it came out like the one in my imagination.
