4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard Click to Bid It's been quite the summer and like most everyone else, I feel it's flying by.  I've been busy on a commission that I hope to finish tomorrow.  However, I did take a break from the commission to paint this little gal.

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Gessoboard  $ 75.  Purchase There was something about the original  "Eating My Greens" painting, that didn't set right with me.  Some paintings can do that...they kind of sing this song to you.  The words go something like "Na-Na, Na-Na-Na" Which translate to:  Something's wrong and you can't fix it!   There's another oldie but goodie song "Time is on my side"  Yes it is!  I simplified the composition, added a little calligraphy brushwork and adjusted those greens.  I'm more than happy with the outcome.  Below is the painting before I gave it more attention.

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Panel I'm in the throes of an online course tailored to artists taking control of their careers.  Right now, I feel like I can't digest another anything.  I feel overwhelmed because until I started this course, I was blissfully ignorant of  web technology.  It's not a leap of faith...it's do I have the faith to leap. Unless I'm painting, gardening, or keeping house, I'm at a disadvantage.  And I paid money to prove that to myself again.

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Panel-  Click to Bid I was driving home, when I came upon some sort of major road problem and I had to take an alternate route.  It was a wonderfully sunny day, in fact, the best that Spring can offer.  Sometimes, even the littlest change causes one to look a little closer when driving and that's how I spotted this little guy.  Actually, he was comfortably grazing with his mate and a small herd of long-haired steer.  I am so thankful for my I-phone, because it takes great pictures and is always with me. It zooms and edits. What more can one ask for?  

"Working the Snow" 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board -Sold I'm glad that my phone has a camera! I happened to be coming home from an appointment when I spied  two pigs rooting with their noses in spite of the cold snow.  Of course I slammed on the breaks...scary event for the car behind me...pulled over and snapped some photos. Today's painting features one of the two, complete with snow on her nose.

"Galloping Sheep" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board S old, thank you What more can you say about this painting?  Just that they really need a haircut.  Let's just say their coupon expired.  They don't know it yet.

Buy on Etsy Whew! it's been too long since I've been in the studio.  I don't want that many days to go by again without painting.  Anyway, life since last post has involved decluttering, organizing and deep cleaning.  One has a (almost false) sense of being functional when a fete like this is accomplished.  It won't last long, but I'm enjoying living in my house again. This piece needed to be toned down.  It was too storybook looking and then I simplified the greens and background and also toned the yellow of the chicks abit.  Happy about the outcome now.  Off to painting some sheep next.

Happy childhood memories visiting a dairy farm of a relative.  My heart for all animals goes back as far as I can remember.   Decided to paint this cow in a Spring landscape.  Rebelling Winter.  Maybe I'll set up my Christmas lights and decorations to help me feel better about it.

"Eleanor" 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Panel Click to Bid Eleanor is one of a herd of beef cows on Post Road in Seneca, NY.  She is a Mommy of a brown and white calf who is adorable.  You'll have to take my word for it or scroll down to the previous painting on this blog to see her baby.  These cows kept me memorized for hours during the recent Billsboro Plein Air Festival.  We were almost on a first name basis!

Morning Sun, 5 x 5 cradled Gessoboard, Oil Sold - Thank you I wanted to do something different today and went looking through my sources for inspiration.  I have wonderful childhood memories of visiting a farm during summer breaks.  So I had to paint a farm animal...so why not a piggy.

Buy now with Paypal Drying on my small painting easel is another Rooster.  I'm thinking of doing a Rooster series.  These birds are the bad boys of the farm and they can be very inspiring to paint.  There is a lot of artist licence to fall back on with this subject.  Painting a Rooster series could offer me a chance to have quite a bit of fun with color.   On another note, today is a very sad day, but yesterday was worse, because I received a phone call early in the morning that my Nephew died in his sleep.  He was only 35.  I was in complete shock and unable to do much with the day.  Today, I still carry a heavy heart, but I'm able to cope better. God Bless my Brother and our family as we process our loss.   God Bless Christians this Easter weekend.- B

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board Click to Bid This little lady had her picture taken by me yesterday.  I went on a field trip hoping to see some brand new lambs but I guess I'm too early.  I don't know who wants their birth more...me or the great with lamb ewe. About 30 miles away from my home is a lamb farm of 100 ewes or more.  Every one of them were inside the barn.  So pretty soon.
