Honey Rose, 4 x 4 inch Oil Painting on Board Sold, thank you! "Honey Rose"  is my entry for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge which was to paint a bee.   I splashed  some paint on the background to symbolize the magic of of what bees do.  

4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board Sold Decided today would be a great day to paint another Big-Bottomed Bee piece.  When I start a BBB, I always let the "girls" talk and have the final say as to how the painting turns out.  In this case, they are tickled pink that spring has arrived and are on their first outing.

4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board   I know that bees are NOT out flying around this time of year making snowballs, but I couldn't resist not creating this piece.  Probably because yesterday, we woke up to about a foot of snow and the kind that packs pretty good for snowballs.   I enjoyed snowball fights with my brother, Mark as it was the only acceptable way to get even with him!

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board The ladies are taking a bow.  In terms of the history of Big Bottomed Bee's, this is the first piece showing their cute little faces.  They know that they should be wearing ballerina slippers, but they love high heels.  They look a little retro.  Maybe I'm watching too many Donna Reed Shows!  

Got Our Mammo Gowns On! 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board   One of my Big Bottomed Bee collectors inquired recently asking if I'd consider painting the girls  doing something for Breast Cancer Awareness Month...which is October.   I decided right then yes, I'm going to paint something, but what was going to be a challenge.  Then it came to me, the mammogram gown!  And of course they had to be pink with lots of hearts for all the women who have to be brave and if you look close enough, these three are making a heart shape with their hands...right smack in the middle of the painting.   My love to all those who have faced the scary word, cancer and not just breast cancer either.  You are brave heroes who touch many hearts.   

Got Our Lollipops On 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board  http://www.dailypaintworks.com/buy/auction/80445 At Daily Paintworks there is a paint your under ware challenge.  Well, I'm not painting my under ware, but I do remember the under ware of my childhood called Lollipops.  I believe they are still made, but hard to find...anyway the girls wanted me to paint them wearing Lollipops and flying to lollipops made with Honey.  Of course!   So here they are and they'll be up for auction.

Two Simple Bees 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board I had an attack of whatever bug is going around yesterday.  I was down for the day.  Today was the intense headache that goes with a bug.  I felt much better toward the end of the day and decided to paint a small and uncomplicated Big Bottomed Bee piece.    I also was able to catch up on daily chores.  So I'm feeling pretty good about my immune system right now.

Flying to the Halloween Ball- Sold 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board I thought it would be cool to paint a pair of Big Bottomed in costume ready to go to the Halloween Ball.  The piece will be up for auction at www.dailypaintworks.com     I'm not a big fan of slasher, dark Halloween, but I do enjoy opening my door that night and seeing children all dressed up for trick or treating.   Especially the toddlers and pre-k group.  So cute.   

Cotton Dandy  Sold Private Collector 5 x 5 inches, oil on board, Big Bottomed Bees Series This is another piece of my series of Big Bottomed Bees. I really enjoy painting Big Bottoms especially when they demand to wear their heels and bags.  In this piece, they also wanted to have a cotton candy feeling so that was worked into the mix also.  They will be available in an auction at www.dailypaintworks.com 

The Escape Artists Big Bottomed Bees, 4 x 4 inches Oil on Board, Sold This is another commissioned BBBs.  The patron wanted a pair of BBBs flying away with a Sunflower, which is her favorite flower.  So I must say, the first attempt was a scraper and I approached it again today with a bit of fear.  I'm so glad it turned out better than I thought it could.   I love painting Big Bottomed Bees.  I'm off to paint another one for auction at Daily Paintworks.  I'll post it when I'm finished.

Oil on Board, 4 x 4 inches www.dailypaintworks.com to bid   Today, my studio is a bit of a mess.  I'm getting ready for my one and only outdoor art show where I bring about 25 pieces of work and my complete tent set up.  A lot of work, but I have patrons who visit me at this show to select another Brande Arno original for their collection.  I'm so thankful for them.   I wanted to create another Big Bottomed Bee painting.  As I was working on this, they took on the look of snow angels.  Remember falling on your back in the snow and moving your legs and feet make an angel impression in the snow.  Well these guys are doing the same.   I'm not pushing snow or anything like that!

Shoe Size 10 & 6 Big-Bottomed Bees Series 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board   Another Big Bottomed Bee painting.  This one features the difference in shoe sizes with women.  I'm a size 8.  When I was a young adult, I thought my feet were big, so I squeezed them into size 7 shoes.  I don't do that anymore!   I've have over the years been surprised and relieved to find out that a lot of ladies are size 9 or higher. So I don't feel as bad about my feet, unless I compare them to my mom's or my adult daughter's little feet!    Its easy to see that summer is winding down.  The nights are cooler and I'm loosing natural light in my studio earlier in the day.  Part of me is looking forward to fall and then the holiday season, after which I'm really ready to become a hibernating bear.   But part of me is a bit melancholy.  Maybe I'll feel better when the leaves change.

Big Bottomed Bees & Bags 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board Today, I meet my daughter on the thruway to bring back her Corina... My sweet granddaughter.  Corina is very aware school is starting soon and like any student, has mixed feelings about it.    Summertime is when Corina does a lot of visiting her grandparents.  She is in big demand and the scheduling begins almost as soon as the year changes.  Amy is hardly able to have Corina home for a full week during summer vacation.   Well, I wanted to get to get a painting finished before we leave and Big Bottomed Bees came to mind.  As you can see, they have their purses because they are going to go shopping.  After all, there are many among us loading up shopping carts for back to school.  These three Bees don't want to be left behind.

http://www.dailypaintworks.com/buy/auction/61715 June Daisies & A Bee 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board   I have daisies in two different flower beds on my property.  I also have more than one area with raspberries, both black and red.  So for the past few days after supper, I've been outside picking, watering, weeding and cutting.   For today's painting, I decided to return to the garden and clip a few very fresh daisies.  I've been experimenting with painting bees and decided to add one to this piece.  What is left for today is studio cleanup and then order dinner-in from our favorite Italian takeout.
