"Cocco" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Gessoboard I have some news for those who subscribe and my collectors.  I'm moving back to Blogger.  It's been a long time and I tried another blogging venue.  It didn't work for me.  This artist has spent countless hours trying to get tech savvy.  I want to paint.  So stay tuned.  First post for 2017 coming shortly.

"Rocky" Commission Portrait I really enjoyed painting Rocky's portrait.  I've never met this charmer, but I'd bet he's a very loving dog.  I worked on this portrait in three stages.  You can look at my Facebook process pictures HERE . I love painting portraits of doggies and kitties and I'm always looking for an excuse to do so.  

"Gertie" 8 x 8 inches, oil on cradled panel Sold Gertie is an adorable senior dog Pekingese who will always be a puppy in her owner's eyes.  It was a pleasure to paint Gertie's portrait.  I love dogs and especially love painting their portraits.  Gertie almost looks like an angel. Yesterday, I went plein air painting with some members of the Pittsford Art Group.  I need to finish the two small paintings and they probably won't be considered plein air when I'm done.  The group had a lot of fun and a great lunch from a local cafe'.  Hanging with other artists is medicine sometimes.  

"Mookie" Pose ll, 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Panel Click to Bid I decided today to make a series of Mookie paintings.  I'll create four of them to post on this week's Daily Paintworks challenge from Carol Marine.  On another note, the phone calls and emails are coming my way for holiday commissions and I'm thankful.  Now off to work on a large commission. 

Cooper 16 x 20 inches, Oil on Board No, this painting is not finished... but darn close.  This is the stage where I can loose the freshness and so I'm almost afraid to proceed.  Because of this fear, yesterday I started a painting of my other doggie, Cookie: Cookie, 12 x 16 inches, Oil on Board This is the initial lay-in and I just love what I captured here.  So I thought I was on a roll until I stopped my painting day and ended up with this: I ended up with some of this piece being overworked.  I do plan on finishing both of my puppy-dog paintings today.  I'm going to conquer my fear of finishing these pieces by showing that inner voice of fear the door out of my studio.

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board This pug got herself entangled in her pink blankie, but don't think for a minute she isn't ready to show the cat who's the boss.  Enjoy the weekend. I know I will.

Mae, 10 x 10 inches, Oil on Board, Sold   This is a portrait of a well-loved canine who passed.   Painting portraits like this for persons who will always love their doggie is a major highlight in my artistic growth.
