"Lioness Challenge" 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board Click to Bid Lions have strong claws and muscles...but it's their eyes that are more than intimidating.  They are so confident and we all know it's the Lioness who does the hunting.  This lioness is painted from a photo posted on Daily Paintworks's challenge page.  

Honey Rose, 4 x 4 inch Oil Painting on Board Sold, thank you! "Honey Rose"  is my entry for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge which was to paint a bee.   I splashed  some paint on the background to symbolize the magic of of what bees do.  

5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board I can't think of a better way for an artist to start their week than to paint a value study.  Painting with a monochromatic palette accomplishes just that.  

4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board   I know that bees are NOT out flying around this time of year making snowballs, but I couldn't resist not creating this piece.  Probably because yesterday, we woke up to about a foot of snow and the kind that packs pretty good for snowballs.   I enjoyed snowball fights with my brother, Mark as it was the only acceptable way to get even with him!

Tupper Lake, NY Woods 5 x 5 inches, Oil on Board   This is my entry for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge.  This week features Birch Trees and I have my own source from my mom's collection of photo's of how Tupper Lake looked in the 1940's.    Thanks to strictly enforced environmental laws and restrictions, there are some areas in the Adirondacks that have not changed much since then.    I loved visiting my Aunt Ownne (Leona) when I was a kid.  Tupper Lake had wild strawberries and raspberries and I loved picking them.  I especially loved my aunt Ownee's berry shortcake desserts.  Her husband, Uncle Phil once baked up a batch of homemade saltines!  He make crackers from scratch.  Mine had sugar on them.  So many good memories of Tupper Lake and of the dairy farm in New York blessed my childhood.   I could go on...like how the power went off all the time.   

Shade Bathers Challenge 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board This is my entry into the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge which is to paint the shade instead of the sun with beach goers.  I'm pleased with this entry because it doesn't copy the photo that we were to use and I'm happy with the suggestion of muscle tone I was able to capture.  Below is the photo:       

Light Bulb Challenge 6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board   Who would paint a light bulb?  I would, especially if it's a challenge designed by Artist, Carol Marine.  I've been trying to create a painting on a regular basis as a result of meeting a weekly challenge offered by DPW.   I cannot put into words how bad I felt yesterday as I tried and tried to paint a soft white bulb.  I had three scrapers and one start that did not look too promising at the end of my studio day.  I just about cried, but instead sipped on a bit of Irish Cream Whiskey.  Medicinal purposes!   Today, I decided to not let this get to me.  This is the result.  Not good enough, but good enough.  Only you artists can make sense of that last sentence.  It's AKA quit while you're ahead.   I so want to capture color and light better than I am doing now.  This will be a goal for me in 2013 and if it gets better before then, I'll have a reaso...
