Olympic Skating Chicken, 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board - Sold  Thank You! Well for the past 6 days, I've been in A-fib or Atrial Fibrillation.  It's very hard to do anything, much less doing my usual routine...so I've been watching more TV and I'm thankful for the Olympics.  Trying to keep a sense of humor about my condition,  I decided to use my artist license, stretch some boundaries and put figure skates and poses onto some chickens.  Today is the first painting made from the sketches.  I hope to have a series of four paintings finished before the Olympics are over.

"Up in the Air About It! 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Board I couldn't resist the title with this piece. Can you see this is a rooster?    I was able to get back to the studio to paint today and I guess everything is back to normal, although my Christmas decorations are still up.  That might change tomorrow.

"Snow Shoes" 4 x 4 inches, Oil on Panel, $ 40. Sold! - Thank you We are fully in winter.  The temperatures are like the middle of January.  Because I live in a rural area, I've seen chickens out in winter.  They take it in stride and go back and forth from the warmth of their hen house to where they are allowed to range without much incident.  Not like me...I hate the cold and turn into a hibernating bear, complaining all the way. 

6 x 6 inches, Oil on Board Years ago, I went on a retreat with my husband.  I took a picture of a hen house that we discovered when we took a walk.  I decided to use it today to make this painting.  Of course I pulled out my artist licence to adjust this and that and while I was creating, a few more hens showed up!

Sally Oil on Board, 5 x 5 inches   This piece went through quite a bit of changes and I'm just glad it didn't turn out to be a scrapper.  Of course there is cracked corn and I would be more than corny to add any more to the title of this piece, because I do care!  So does Sally.

Glass Chicken, 4 x 4 inches, oil on board, $ 25. I fell in love with this little guy two years ago when I took my granddaughter to the Corning Glass Museum.  The price was right and he came home with me all wrapped up nicely and tucked inside a gift bag. I decided to paint him yesterday and so enjoyed doing so.  I put some happy flakes around him.  He's been a very good chicken and easy to keep as he's only about 2 inches tall.  - Brande
